Beware of imitations!! What are the differences

At Hybrid Development International (HDi), we stand by the quality of our Hiace intercoolers. However, we've recently noticed low-quality imitations on the market claiming to be HDi products designed to deceive customers with cheaper alternatives. These knock-offs not only lack the performance and durability of our genuine intercoolers but also risk damaging your vehicle. To help you identify authentic HDi products, we've outlined key differences that set us apart. Trust in the reliability and innovation that HDi delivers—don't settle for less.

The HDi Hiace intercooler features one-piece, high-grade aluminium tanks for even pressure, efficiency, and optimal performance, with a hard anodized finish for extended cooling and looks.
Cheap imitations use low-quality, welded sheet metal for tanks, which can crack, leak, and have hotspots, degrading performance.

Compare intercoolers' quality and workmanship

1, Imitations commonly use low-quality sheet metal folded to the shape and weld-up side tanks as this is the cheap and easy-to-make option to make quick bucks! The weld-up sheet metal method often cracks and leaks over a period of time, yet sharp welding corners create hot and pressure spots that reduce performance!

2, Connecting pipes are made from cheap aluminium pipes cut into size and again roughly welded on sheet metal plates!

3. To save costs, imitation intercooler cores are often hollow or low-cost tubes with sharp edges that also provide low cooling or worse than the OEM intercooler's efficiency!

4, Welding is uneven and often distanced from the cored edges as this kind of core is just off the shelf item that mass produced for the lowest cost possible then cut and weld for a quick turn around without care of quality ! 1. Imitations often use low-quality sheet metal that is folded into shape and welded to create side tanks. This method is cheap and easy, allowing for quick profits. However, the welded sheet metal can crack and leak over time, while sharp welding corners create hot spots and pressure points that reduce performance.

 

2. The connecting pipes are typically made from inexpensive aluminium pipes, cut to shape and then roughly welded onto sheet metal plates.

 

3. To cut costs, imitation intercooler cores are frequently made hollow or constructed from low-quality tubes with sharp edges, resulting in poor cooling performance and efficiency that is worse than that of the OEM intercooler.

 

4. The welding is often uneven and improperly distanced from the core edges. This type of core is usually an off-the-shelf item mass-produced for the lowest possible cost, cut and welded quickly without any focus on quality.

5. Mounting brackets were made from mile steel or low-quality thin sheet metal, drilled and cut to size, and often misaligned, broke, or did not fit!

1. The HDi Hiace intercooler’s side Tanks are made from the highest-quality One-piece moulded aluminium, which does not require multiple welding sheets. This ensures uniform pressure distribution, high efficiency, and optimised flow, pressure, and heat exchange performance. The Surface finishing is also processed and treated with hard anodise coating to maximise cooling surface area and long-lasting appearance.  

2. The inlet and outlet are CNC port-matched, as well as Billet CNCed ports, which further reduces the restriction of compressed air getting in and out of the intercooler. Hence, the pressure drop is further reduced, allowing better flow throughout the HDi intercooler!

3, HDi GT2 intercooler cores have the highest fin density and are specially designed for Hiace; each core was pressure tested 3 bars to ensure its durability and highest cooling efficiency.

HDi V2 gt2 Toyota HiAce 200/201 1KD/2KD GDH is a high-performance intercooler kit designed specifically for the Toyota HiAce vehicle.

This kit reduces the intake air temperature and increases intake density, which helps prevent engine knocking tendencies, reduce fuel consumption, and optimize engine performance, thus extending the engine’s lifespan.

The kit includes everything needed to install the intercooler on the Toyota Hiace. It features an HDi Toyota Hiace intercooler, complete with top and bottom stainless steel mounting brackets and stainless steel hose clamps!

We have received many Dyno tests from our Japanese, Hong Kong, and Australian customers, who conducted a Dyno test to compare the performance differences between an OEM Toyota Hiace intercooler and an HDi Toyota Hiace GT2 intercooler kit. The result is outstanding! Not only does the boost come faster and harder, but the power and maximum Torque also come about 246 rpm earlier!!!
Moreover, customers also experience better fuel economy after the HDi intercooler is installed. This is a great efficiency improvement as a bonus!!
